This song screams liquor commercial, perfume commercial, lingerie commercial, any scene in a badass movie, you name it! The single itself creates a cool cinematic feel and that’s before we even get to the music video where it all comes to life better than we could have imagined.Īmazing work by Rhea Robertson, Luke Wylde, and their team. The first thing that comes to mind is that this song needs to be in movies and commercials. Rhea’s sultry vocals meshed with Luke’s bluesy production is one for the ages. As with their previous collaboration the duo bring out the best in each other. Rhea and Luke have joined forces yet again on a brand new single released today called “Mulholland Drive”. And it looks like we’ve been proven right.
This collaboration made both of them a lock on our new feature The NEXT 100, as artists to be on the look out for in 2020. The single was a collaboration with music producer Luke Wylde who recently notched a credit on Usher, Lil Jon, and Ludacris’ latest single “Sex Beat”. The artist caught my attention last year with “Save Yourself”, a single that instantly became an all time favorite in my 10+ years of blogging. I’ve been awestruck particularly with the wave of amazing female singer/songwriters from the region, one being Rhea Robertson. (Fun Fact: Some of The Gaslight Anthem songs are named after or have quotes from different movies.If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Australia it’s that their music scene has a goldmine of talent, one that is severely underrated. I would recommend it for people who like sad breakup songs that have a deeper meaning than just the notes and chords played and sung in this song. Brian Fallon does a wonderful job singing this song. I don’t know why this isn’t a five-star song (I guess it just doesn’t feel right, which I know is no excuse for some of the Gaslight Anthem fans and/or people who really love this song) but it is wonderful. This is a four-star song because of the sadness and really deep meaning of this. As I already said in my review of “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”, I love breakup songs that are deep and rock n’ roll. He “used to drive her all around with the radio on”. Mulholland Drive is a song about a breakup and their special place was Mulholland.
It is a wonderful band so I suggest you listen to other songs of theirs ("Here’s Looking At You Kid” and “Here Comes My Man” are some of my favorites). This is a wonderful song by a not very well-known band, The Gaslight Anthem.
